Preschool speech therapy I always learn from the parents with whom I work. In the last few months I have noticed that involved moms are keeping a little notepad to record their child’s progress. One mom, writes down all the words and situations in which her son uses new words between our sessions so she can fill me in when I arrive the next time. This is doubly helpful–to her so she is actively participating in his language development, and for me so I can be brought up to date and know where to begin my session, what to reinforce and comment on.

What do you other speech therapists do to get parents involved in their child’s speech and language progress?
