Children learn from imitating their experiences at their age so playing doctor can dispel fears and build language and pretend play skills. Our little doctor was ready with her bag of tools to take on her patients. She loved giving me a shot–go figure! A smile plus a shot is a good association in play and will hopefully carry over to her next visit to the doctor. These durable wooden instruments will keep up with many examinations using the stethoscope, blood pressure sleeve, reflex hammer, and thermometer. Preschoolers imitate adults and events from their everyday experiences trying out different roles (doctor and  patient, parent or child) which require different actions, dialogue, problem solving and solutions. Kids build language skills through pretend play, exercising creative thinking in these roles.
