It’s another exciting week at Camp Rallyhoo. But instead of football, campers are learning about soccer. Future Fans Soccer combines the excitement of soccer with storytelling and movement, creating an engaging way to play and learn with a caregiver.

This action-packed boxset includes a storybook that guides players through 6 sessions of storytelling with a game at the end of session. But these aren’t necessarily soccer scrimmages. Kids are team building, following directions and finding cooperative ways to play together.

A significant advantage of Future Fans Soccer is its emphasis on storytelling. Reading the story and making real-time connections to text allows kids to expand their vocabulary, understand and use more complex sentence structure and use language for a variety of functions. Kids are using social skills and problem-solving simultaneously to take turns, negotiate roles, and articulate their ideas — all essential components of effective communication, on and off the field.

The game’s Flick Ball (a small squishy soccer ball introduced in session 2) was a welcome addition to gameplay. It was the highlight of table top soccer — field and sidelines included — but also a great practice tool for dribbling, bouncing, and building coordination skills inside.

Rhyme and Reminder cards made learning rules memorable and fun!

If over the side your team makes it go,

with two hands the other team then gets to throw

The integration of movement in between each session keeps kids engaged and adds another layer of educational value. Children naturally learn through doing, which can enhance memory and retention of language concepts.

Future Fans Soccer aligns with the goals of learning through play and creating connectivity with a caregiver. By fostering storytelling and encouraging movement, it provides a holistic approach to learning that supports language skills, social interaction, and physical development. It’s awesome for integrating play with communication skills.
