Kids are drawn to magnets. My little preschooler had fun just snapping different pieces together and saying, “Sticky , sticky , sticky!” Even big sister got involved in choosing a picture card of a dog, rabbit, cat, hen and pig to reproduce using some of the 30 magnetic facial features and clothing to attach to the wooden template. We started with the pig with his cute snout, pointed pink ears and bow tie and moved on to the hen with her feathers, triangle nose and wings. This became a fun activity to grow language as we called out pieces we were looking for–green striped shirt, piggy nose that looked like a smiley face, or bow tie, building vocabulary with descriptive words. The craziness starts when kids invent their own animals, combining features and clothing to match their imaginations.
