Whoa, was this a popular activity in the classroom where I brought the kinetic sand. Kids were making a volcano, ice cubes, ice cream, lakes and roads while they used the chopper, squisher, scooper, twister and shaper. What fun to hear them converse in some pretend play as they were strengthening their fine motor muscles for handwriting and language skills through pretend play. They kept calling out their creations, “I made a sand dollar!” “My ice cream is melting.” As they were all declaring what flavor of ice cream they  liked, one little girl said, “I kinds like chocolate everything.” They could have been a commercial for kinetic sand, “It’s called kinetic sand because it connects so if you make a mess, then you can connect it together.” This set even comes with a stand to prop up a phone so kids can create their own videos. What a creative way to build skills essential for the classroom.
