Play gets pretty nutty with kids matching letters and squirrel positions while slapping their hands on the pile to be the first to recognize a match. Each additional match requires kids to say a word beginning with the letter on the top card and then repeat the sequence of those said before, their Nutty Sequence. We started with V(not so easy) and ended up with “Vacuum Catsup Underwear!” Go figure but kids will be kids. Nutty Sequences continue to grow match after match as long as players remember the sequence correctly. Winning players distribute the center stack of cards to opponents in varying amounts if they like, adding to the strategy and possibly annoying opponents! The nuttiness of silly sequences adds to the fun of phonemic awareness, sequencing, sentence formulation and auditory memory skills that are tapped in this game.
