Let’s get away for the weekend at the Wonderhood Grand Hotel. Look at all the fun kids can have as they build and then play in their modular hotel. This set is full of learning fun with creative problem solving as kids snap together the 22 washable plastic panels for floors, walls and ceilings together with clip connectors. Take the slide into the pool, visit the Hot Cocoa Bar, drop the kids at the Kids Club, buy a t-shirt at the gift shop or ride up the three story elevator. Bedroom, bathroom, and hallway panels make up rooms #205 or #314. After 3D construction up several floors and out, kids meet character figures, Chelsea and her brother Erik who live at the hotel as their parents run it. The story expands as kids use the 37 decorative reusable stickers to add detail to the hotel and props to more characters–suitcase, teddy bear, swim float, bike, bathrobe and books, to name a few. Chelsea, a budding architect shares her journal with plenty of plain pages for “Notes and Doodles,” as kids can dream and design their next version of the hotel. As children create their story, design the associated building and record their ideas, they are tapping into many language skills, critical thinking, story telling, analyzing and revising making this a true STEAM experience. Five STEAM powered challenges are included where kids are given a situation and asked to build a hotel to meet the specifications associated with the story such as building a hotel to maximize guests’ experience watching the fireworks, making the hotel on one floor to accommodate Erik’s injured foot or design a hotel that is hosting a Swim-a-thon and needs a short distance between the pool and toweling off at the Kids Club. The smart play combination of story telling and associated design and building makes this toy a treasure of learning on many fronts!
