One of my favorite parts of running the PAL Award is giving away the many wonderful toys, games and books after they have been reviewed. I look for new homes for them among organizations that serve the vulnerable and disadvantaged children and single moms. Last week I made a stop at the Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s Guest House for Women and Children. It is a relatively new home for previously homeless single moms and their children. They have a wonderful facility with a preschool for the kids where I have donated toys before.
When I dropped off my toys, I was greeted by Rebekah Wilcox, Case Manager, who said, “We will put these to good use!” The fun thing is that I’ve seen the preschool in action and how the toys are a wonderful addition to their program.
The Bridgeport Rescue Mission prepares and distributes over 12,000 meals each month and if you saw the size of their little kitchen you wouldn’t believe it. I applaud all their efforts!! AND they have a great
