Splat the Cat: Up in the Air at the Fair by Rob Scotton

images-1It’s no secret that I am a fan of Splat the Cat! He and his buddies, Spike and Plank, just make me giggle. Now they are off to the fair to collect a perfect gift for Kitten who can’t come due to an injured leg. This engaging early reader has so much more content to interest the new reader than many beginning books, and seemed a little more advanced that its “level 1” distinction. Maybe that’s why I liked it because there was more interesting language. Kids get practice reading words with the “air” sound–air, chair, despair, eclair (let’s just say someone couldn’t resist and ate them all), fair, flair, hair, lair, and wheelchair. Follow their capers and see what gift they bring back to delight Kitten and young readers alike!
