Parents often ask me how to play with toys with their babies, and this train invites interaction! Talk about what you are doing with the train as you take blocks “off” and “on” and slide them on the pole “on top” of each other. Assemble the fox, kitty or duck calling out the patterns on the pieces, “polka dots,” “checkered,” or “tiny dots.” ‘Pull” or “push” your train to go “fast” or “slow” as you feed your little one vocabulary related to your play. In this way, your child learns more easily as your comments are describing the action they are observing. This little train can build language skills as children hear the labels for what they see!
