I want this for my birthday!” said my 10-year-old chef after stirring the chocolate chips, dipping pretzels into the melted chocolate and pouring it into heart moulds for his gift for Mother’s Day! He prepared the Chocolate Shoppe candy display and assembled his boxes and got the foil cups ready while the chocolate hardened. He did want me to share the tip that the chocolates harden faster in the refrigerator! Cooking is a wonderful language activity for children as they follow a sequence of directions, measure, learn fractions, and in this case prepare a little shop for displaying and giving away their treats. Everything is child-sized and safe for making yummy chocolates–a great reward for the chef and his lucky friends.
